Once you have boards screwed into the entirety of the floor the attic should look like a grid.

Wear long sleeves and pants since. If plywood or particleboard is slightly warped it may pull loose if you nail it down. Put on work gloves safety glasses and a dust mask before entering the attic. Cut the second board if necessary and slide it into position with the first board making sure the tongue and groove is fully connected to form an almost invisible join.
