Hardie siding requires a minimum 2 gap from all hard surfaces like decks or rooflines and at least 8 from any soft surfaces like grass dirt or gravel. It takes a lot of talent to make sure you don t shoot to much caulk inside the trim and they et caulk it perfectly flush with the trim using a special technique. It s especially affordable when it placed over existing siding because the labor of removing the old siding is not needed.
