The previous owner had cut out the roof skin and roof supports in order to fit a webasto the webastos aren t really my thing and the way it had been cut meant that once the webasto frame was in the thin roof bowed under the weight of the frame and so i needed to fix the gaping hole in the roof.

Hi there ive been searching around looking for information on how to replace the roof skin on my mk1 golf.
I dont want to cut it at the pillars due to the risk of distorting the shell and cutting.
I noticed people have done it a few different ways but i want to remove the skin from the gutter rails rather than cut the pillars etc so im looking for any advice from people who have done it that way before.
Panel comes up to just above the bumper mounts will require modification for cabriolet.
